Fenwick Limited
History
Mr JJ.Fenwick opened his first shop for ladies’ exclusive tailoring in 1882 on Northumberland Street Newcastle upon Tyne, before heading south in 1891 to buy 63 New Bond Street just as new retailing concept, the department store, was emerging from Paris. Both shops gained swift reputations as exciting places to shop, full of new styles and influences.
Further branches followed, today eleven in total, including two Bentalls department stores and the newest addition, William&Griffin in Colchester. Other locations are York, Leicaster, Brent Cross Shopping Centre, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells and Windsor. The Newcastle site grew to become the largest department store in the North East.
Fenwick of Bond Street, a landmark on London’s leading shopping street, has just completed its major re-development, discreetly dazzling on five extended floors of fashion, accessories, beauty and lingerie, plus menswear, childrenswear and an exciting new restaurant, Bond &Brook.
Renowned for individuality and in-the-know labels, Fenwick finds the key looks and newest collections, often exclusively.
